WHERE TO EAT

Our FAVORITE special-occasion place is JOHN GRAY’S KITCHEN by Dora in Puerto Morelos.

As if the finger-licking good food and romantic atmosphere were not enough, John Gray’s is doubly special because Dora, the hands-on owner, is a special friend from my kids’ teenage years in Guadalajara! In February 2018, we celebrated a very special occasion with Dora: a visit from granddaughter/niece Sarah Olivares. In July 2018, Beatriz and her family gathered for dinner and catching up with Dora. On Thanksgiving, we enjoyed turkey with the best trimmings ever. Adrian, Traci, Sarah, Sofia, Madison, and Liam joined Ruben, Angel, and me at Dora’s for a memorable holiday. Website

MANDINGA RESTAURANT Puerto Juarez has excellent seafood, indoor and outdoor dining, and a nice view. Pirate ships docked out back add to the mood.

MARAKAME in Cancún offers indoor/outdoor dining, a varied and reasonably priced menu, and a fun atmosphere.

FLAMINGOS in Puerto Juarez has a pleasant tropical atmosphere with ocean views of Isla Mujeres and the Hotel Zone. Beach chairs and a shower and changing room are available to patrons for no extra charge. A great place to relax and enjoy good seafood and international cuisine.
